FAQs
The Big Shed Guy
What size does the concrete pad need to be?
The size of the concrete pad depends on your metal building's dimensions, intended use, and local building regulations. As a general guideline, we suggest extending the pad at least one foot beyond the building's width and length. However, you may opt for a larger pad to create a small perimeter walkway. While our concrete pad size calculator can assist with initial planning, it's crucial to consult and adhere to your local building codes, which may specify particular size, thickness, or footing requirements. How long does metal building installation take?
Installation duration varies based on the size of the structure. Small carports typically require a few hours, while larger carports generally take a full day. Medium-sized metal buildings usually need 2 to 3 days for installation, and large metal buildings can take 3 to 5 days. Our team handles the entire installation process, provided your foundation is prepared and level. What type of insulation do you offer for metal garages and metal buildings?
We provide two insulation options: double bubble r5 and 2" fiberglass r7. The double bubble insulation primarily addresses moisture control, while the 2" fiberglass insulation manages both moisture and temperature, offering an r-value of r-17.How well do metal buildings withstand wind and snow?
Our metal buildings are engineered for durability and designed to meet or exceed standard requirements. For areas prone to severe weather, we offer upgrades such as 12-gauge steel framing and certifications for specific wind speeds and snow loads. Features like vertical roof styles can enhance performance in heavy snow regions. We recommend discussing your local conditions with our specialists to ensure your structure is appropriately configured. How should I prepare my site for installation?
The most critical preparation step is ensuring your site is level or within a few inches of level before our installation crew arrives. Additionally, it's essential to provide clear, unobstructed access to the building site for our delivery truck and crew to ensure a smooth installation process.Do I need a permit for my metal building?
Permit requirements for metal buildings vary depending on your location and the structure's size and intended use. In most cases, a building permit is necessary. However, some jurisdictions may not require permits for certain structures like carports. It's essential to check with your local building department to determine the specific requirements for your project. If needed, we can provide standard engineered drawings to assist with your permit application process. How much do metal buildings cost?
The cost of metal buildings is determined by several factors, including the size, style (such as roof type), materials selected (like steel gauge and siding options), and any additional features such as doors, windows, or insulation. What is the warranty on your metal buildings?
We provide a 3-month workmanship warranty from the date of installation for all our metal buildings. For customers who upgrade to the optional 12-gauge steel framing, we offer an extended 20-year rust-through warranty on the framing and most roof panels. Our standard 14-gauge tubing and 29-gauge sheeting come with a 10-year warranty against rust-through.
